HANOVER COUNCIL ON AGING WILL HOLD SENIOR RESOURCE FAIR ON FEBRUARY 9

 

The Hanover County Council on Aging, in partnership with Mechanicsville Baptist Church, will be coordinating a Senior Resource Fair on Thursday, February 9, 2012. The program will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, 8016 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23111. Resource information and brief presentations will be offered by a variety of human service organizations.

This free event offers older adults and family members an opportunity to meet directly with service providers to ask specific questions and gain information to enhance their quality of life and financial futures.

The Hanover County Council on Aging is partnering with the community to host various Senior Resource Fairs throughout the County. The fairs will be hosted by local senior clubs, civic and faith-based organizations and are open to all older adults and caregivers.

Prescription drug take-back in Hanover Saturday

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) – On Saturday, the Hanover Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Richmond District Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration with the first ever Nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.

The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity for citizens to surrender their expired, unwanted and/or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances.

The Hanover drug take-back event lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mechanicsville Miler

Saturday, October 30, 2010 Join in the fun and help our school by participating in the Mechanicsville Miler! Run or walk with family and friends and show your school spirit on Saturday, October 30, 2010.


Place: The run starts and finishes at Mechanicsville Elementary School, 7425 Mechanicsville Elementary Drive, Mechanicsville, VA.      

Time: The 3 Mile Run/Walk begins at 9:00 am, the 100 yard dash begins at 10:00 am and the 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 10:30 am.

Course: The 3 mile course is designed for runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels.  It is mostly flat terrain through nearby neighborhoods. 

The entry fee increases after October 1st so enter today!  All registrants before Oct.

The Hanover Massey Cancer Center wants to help you look and feel better. Enjoy 2-hours, hands-on activity conducted by volunteer cosmetologists including a 12-step skin care and makeup program, demonstrations on how to use wigs, turbans and hats to help women cope and be stylish, too.  Participants must be undergoing chemo or radiation, or recently completed their treatment.
