Narcotics investigation results in arrest and seizures | News

HANOVER, VA (WWBT)- The Hanover County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man who they say distributed cocaine in Mechanicsville.

33-year-old Lawrence T. Abernathy is charged with distribution of cocaine and possession of a firearm while in the possession of a controlled substance.

Abernathy is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover County without bond.

Abernathy was arrested in the 7400 block of Brook Way Court on Thursday without incident as a result of an on-going narcotics investigation.

Police searched where he lived and found a large cache of weapons and ammunition, as well as a small amount of narcotics and cash.

Some of the items they found were:

• 28 firearms
  • 20 semi-auto handguns (9 millimeter, .45 caliber, and .40 caliber)
  • 3- 12 gauge shotguns
  • 3- assault rifles
  • 2- long rifles
• Over 1,000 rounds of ammunition
• 153 magazines
• 3 knives
• 2 tactical vests
